Join us today as we dive deep into the heart of South Reno, specifically exploring the enchanting area of Galena. Unsure where this gem is located? Just travel south from downtown Reno on 395, and find yourself in the southwestern suburbs.
We kick-start our journey on the west side, and if you’re following along, once you pass the Damonte Ranch Parkway exit, head right after crossing South Virginia Street. You’ll land on Zolezzi Lane! Our adventure takes us from the southern end of Zolezzi up to Mount Rose Highway.
Today we will cover Galena Forest, Montreux, Callahan Ranch, Galena, Saddlehorn, Field Creek Ranch, and Arrowcreek.
Starting from the top and winding our way back down, you’ll soon discover the myriad reasons why locals and visitors are drawn to this region. The captivating landscape offers a treasure trove of parks, serene hiking trails, and the exhilarating climb to the summit of Mount Rose, standing majestically at over 10,000 feet! The panoramic views from this altitude, overlooking the town, are simply breathtaking.
However, note that as you venture further along Mount Rose Highway, amenities become sparse, with primarily residential areas dominating the region. It’s only when you approach Wedge Parkway that you’ll start encountering more city conveniences.
